We’re excited to share Kage Matcha Bar, our latest hospitality interior design project in Singapore.

Kage is a contemporary matcha bar designed around the atmosphere of quietness. Inspired by the idea of kage, the Japanese word for shadow, the interior is shaped by the changing rhythm of daylight. A restrained palette of timber, stone, and textured plaster allows light and shadow to become the defining elements of the space.
"We find beauty not in the thing itself but in the patterns of shadows, the light and the darkness, that one thing against another creates." – Jun’ichiro Tanizaki
At the centre of the space, the matcha counter is framed by open shelving and becomes the focal point of the interior. Around it, we designed custom furniture, including low benches and stools that give the space a sculptural, tactile character. Every piece was designed to feel intentional.

More than a matcha bar, Kage was designed as a place to slow down. A space to sit, enjoy a cup of tea, and take a moment away from the pace of the city.
